Test #1 - Watching An Amazon Unbox Show On My Xbox 360 Via Windows Media Center 2005
Posted on 8:12 pm by Paul ColliganThe “for real” aspect of all of this launches on January 1, but I have to do some testing between now and then to make sure that we can, at least in theory, pull this off.
Right now, the two ways to easily watch “broadcast” television, delivered over the Internet, without attaching a noisy desktop to your television set are as follows:
Option 1 is buying a show via the Xbox Marketplace. Will be trying that soon.
Option 2 is Amazon Unbox content watched via the Xbox using the Windows Media Center connection.
I bought an episode of Blues Clues from Amazon Unbox for my daughter. We downloaded it to the new Media Center computer upstairs. She’s connected to the house network via Wireless G (Media Center, not daughter).
Ran the bad boy (bad dog?) through the Xbox via Media Center and, it worked like a charmer. DVD quality. Nice.
My wife is thrilled that the girls can watch Blue without being barraged by commercials for other products.
My 6 year old has no problem using the Xbox controller as a remote.
So far, so good.
