Renting A Movie - As Easy As Pay Per View

Essentially all I did last night was ran a PayPerView purchase through some expensive computer equipment.

But, at the heart of this, this is much more than that.

Yes, I grabbed a “studio” release (if Woody Allen can be considered a studio release these days) - but what is keeping me from getting indie films this way? What is keeping me from getting obscure foreign films that “nobody” cares about?

Very little. Right now the tech is just supporting the big guys, but that will change very soon.

I didn’t waste gas on a trip to Blockbuster. And for your Netflix fans, my mailman didn’t waste any gas either. No disks of plastic were printed for this - it was all 1’s and 0’s.

And I gladly paid $3.99 for it.

Netflix is famous for the long tail of movie rentals but could pay per view online have an even longer tail?

Just thinking outloud …
