Dad On The Movie Rental

I wrote previously about our first movie renting experience.

It went well I think.

But part of this experiment is how “other” family members respond to the project. I asked my Dad to say a few words about how he thought it went and, well, here they are:

I was totally intrigued by my son Paul’s “Year of Living Digitally” experiment. I was amazed that a few minutes after we decided what movie to watch we were enjoying the film. The viewing experience was exactly what I am used to EXCEPT that we had not made a trip to Blockbuster, the were no commercials (that’s even better than fast-forwarding through them on Tivo), and we were not paying for cable TV.

Paul has taught me enough to run a relatively uncomplicated blog, but I still don’t understand technology well enough to really comment on his experiment. My question is this: what will my son, his wife, and my grandchildren be like after they been away from television commercials for a year? I think that my remote control gives me some power over what I watch, but that is nothing compared to what Paul’s family is accomplishing! This is both a technological and a human revolution!

So, I think Dad is sold on it.
