Apple TV Versus Tivo - You’ll Never Guess Which Is Cheaper

The whole experiment has been about a number of things. Cost was only one of them. However, Alan Graham at ZDnet ran some very interesting numbers and I think I’m going to come out of this ahead of the game - financially speaking - as well!

His article in short (read it) - 2 years of Cable, Tivo and a decent batch of shows is $645 MORE THAN two years of your favorite shows purchased at iTunes and a brand spanking new Apple TV box to call your own.

I can’t find fault with his numbers - can you?

Perhaps even more interesting is Alan’s pondering that Apple might be out to “kill” Tivo in the process. His take that an Apple TV box and the content you actually want runs cheaper/better/faster than any option we’ve had this far is what I guess I was thinking all along.

I just didn’t explain as good as this guy did.

Yeah, it’s going to be a great year.
