Tivo To Do The Amazon Unbox Thing
Posted on 9:54 am by Paul ColliganI’ve been a fan of the easy and simplicity of Amazon Unbox since we launched this project. It is, so far, the easiest to use of all of the products and (I don’t know if this was planned or just lucky) some of her features make her perfect for Tivo’s limitations.
Remember, Unbox is the only service (so far) that once you buy, they keep a file for you at Amazon that you can download at any point. They call it “Remote Load” and what that means is you can download it when you need it, delete it when you want to, and download again. This will work perfect for the Tivo limitations of a smaller hard drive, etc.
I miss my Tivo. Nothing we’ve used this year is as easy as she was (note - Apple TV has yet to arrive). This combo would have been very nice. Obviously paying $12.95 for a box to only download what I can currently do with my Xbox 360 would be pointless, so no dramas.
Should I dare predict that by the time I end this experiment I might not ever go back?

While your description of isn’t wrong, the main feature of Remote Load is that it allows you to send your media to any of your devices, and at the time of purchase too.
This is fantastic for people who decide they want to watch a film in the evening while at work. Load up Amazon, click a few buttons, and come home to your film ready and waiting.
Unbox seems to get a lot of negative comments which I don’t quite understand.
