Apple TV Is Now Part Of My Digital Year. Initial Thoughts.
Posted on 10:44 pm by Paul ColliganPodcasts are much easier. iTunes television is much easier. Any MP4 content is much easier.
I’ve watched multiple shows and multiple pieces of HD content (watching Digg Nation as I type this) and nothing has stuttered yet. I’ve run the microwave as well - and nothing. Shows also load faster than on the Xbox/Media Center combo. Incredible stuff.
Install was easy. Interface is so simple. Heidi already approves. My 6 year old can find her shows with ease. Of course, I’d die if she found my DiggNation episodes.
I guess some sort of parental control thing would be nice. Xbox does have that.
If I could access Amazon Unbox, Vongo and any music rental service with this, it would be perfect.
Between now and then, I guess I’ll be switching back and forth for my rented stuff.
But the default, for now, is Apple TV.

I’ve been following your blog since the beginning. Very informative stuff. Thanks!
I got my Apple TV yesterday, I love it. I’ve got about 6 gigs worth of podcasts on it now and I’m seriously considering ditching my directtv.
Also… thought you might be interested in my open source project CastCluster. It allows you to turn youtube video and videos on your local disk into podcasts that are compatible with AppleTV/iTunes/iPod.
