Does the Xbox Dashboard Update Make Me Question My Apple TV Purchase
Posted on 12:03 pm by Paul ColliganBut the real question is this - now that I have it, do I regret my Apple TV purchase.
Nope.
No way.
No how.
First of all, it doesn’t work through Media Center Extenders - so you don’t get any attractive interface. It’s a folder only thing that I can figure out - but I wouldn’t dare hand over to anyone else in my family.
Secondly, iTunes television shows. I know I can get TV through the Xbox and Amazon Unbox - but the ease of use is still their with the Apple TV / iTunes Music Store implementation.
Finally, Apple TV is still just so much freaking fun to use. I still can’t get away from the simplicity (my 4 year old can find her cartoons on it) and gorgeousness.
So, there it is.
Will I change my mind in a few weeks of constantly flipping back and forth between these things?
We’ll see.

I’ve been trying to get my Media Extender working on a Linksys wired router for two weeks. Throwing in the towel….

MCE Tunes will allow you to access all the content you want from your iTunes library (video and music) using your extender interface.
If consolidation is a goal that seems like a product worth checking out.
Personally I am torn between the much higher quality I get with 360’s video service and the much greater volume of content I get with iTunes.
The question I have is will it be easier for Microsoft to license new content for XBox Live Marketplace or for Apple to up the quality bar of their video.
