Mommy, Amazon’s Doing It Again …
Posted on 4:08 pm by Paul ColliganThey’re doing it again this weekend - this time with rentals. I picked up rentals of Good Shepard, Children of Men, and Rocky Balboa - all of which I haven’t seen yet for 99 cents each.
Don’t forget, you can download these to your Tivo now.
Downloads at $5 and rentals at $.99.
Yes, we’re getting there.
Small point - I have no intention of watching them all this weekend. Rental downloads are good for 30 days (and then 24 hours after you first push “Play”).
I love to see a few zillion of these purchased so that some bean counter somewhere makes a note of it.

I am disappointed this only works in the U.S. I live in China, have a U.S. credit card with U.S. billing address. It got me past the purchase page (i.e. I spent 99 cents on a rental), but when I tried downloading the movie with the unbox player, it caught me! Goodbye 99 cents I guess.
Too bad Amazon isn’t like iTunes where all I need is a U.S. billing address and I get past the stupid country restriction. I’m American, just because I live/work in China doesn’t mean I should be penalized and not be able to enjoy this sort of content. No?
Another note: 99cent rentals are very competitive against the $1 DVDs you get on the side of the road here. I am sure many people who buy DVDs here (those from shady sources) watch it once, and then forget about it.
I’d much rather spend $1 on a legit rental, see it once, then delete as opposed to spending $1 on a shady DVD, watch it once, then have it clutter up my house…
