Who Wouldn’t Want Their Digital Home Upgraded?

Now this is a smart marketing strategy.

FIOS, of whom I will be updating to next week (my street is wired, I just need to be around for them to wire up my house) is doing this reality show / website thing called “My Home 2.0.” The basic idea is a total home (technology) makeover the highlights the power the FIOS brings. They then distribute the show online, at YouTube, and at the FIOS on demand services.

Smart move all the way around and I have to give a hat-tip to them for pulling off the kind of advertising that people will actually watch.

Check out the video below.

Nice.

Wish I lived in Pittsburgh.

Hi, Paul, thanks for the hat-tip.

I actually just got into my hotel outside Philly a little while ago, for the episode 2 shoot tomorrow. I’ll be getting some behind-the-scenes pics and video as the Techno-Gurus start working their magic at the Irving home.

I’m pretty excited about it, actually — we’ve got a lot of cool plans for keeping the families involved after their upgrades have been unveiled at the block parties and the buzz of the jumbotron has long faded. Revealing the high-tech upgrades may mark the end of the TV episodes, but it’s really only the beginning of the story for our families.

I think it’ll be pretty interesting to check out a reality TV show from the inside out on the site — the reality behind the reality, if you will. Hope you stop by again.
